Sourcing / Supply Chain & Estimating Position Overview The Sourcing Analyst plays a vital role in the proposal and procurement lifecycle by analyzing component pricing, managing quote data, and building detailed cost models for customer bids. Working in close coordination with the Proposal Manager, Purchasing, and Program Management teams, this position ensures the accuracy of Costed Bills of Materials (BOMs), monitors supplier quote pipelines, and delivers actionable pricing intelligence to support executive bid reviews and operational profitability.
Duties & Responsibilities Quote Administration & Pipeline Tracking:
Prepare and update daily priority and workload status reports for Quoting and Operations leadership. Review customer specifications, drawings, and documentation alongside the Proposal Manager and cross-functional teams to identify technical requirements and special processes. Format and upload customer data into the materials quoting system, monitoring open quote requests sent to suppliers to drive timely turnaround. Consolidate supplier pricing and lead-time feedback, escalating key intelligence to Purchasing and Program Management.
Cost Modeling & BOM Analysis:
Generate accurate Costed Bills of Materials (BOMs), labor workbooks, and comprehensive quote packages for customer submission. Audit and evaluate Costed BOMs for pricing escapes, anomalies, and structural accuracy, reporting findings to leadership. Calculate, analyze, and track component-level Purchase Price Variance (PPV) against target baselines to protect manufacturing margins.
Reporting & Cross-Functional Support:
Support the Proposal Manager with departmental KPI reporting, executive quote review decks, and ad hoc analytical projects. Expand capabilities under managerial guidance to assume ownership of increasingly complex, multi-tiered customer quotations.
Qualifications & Skills Education:
Bachelor's degree required.
Experience:
2 to 4 years of experience in quoting administration, cost estimation, or procurement analytics preferred (open to motivated candidates with strong analytical foundations).
Technical & Software Proficiency:
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (proficiency with VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and advanced data functions). Working familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with quoting engines (such as CalcuQuote / QuoteCQ) is a strong plus. Hands-on experience with MRP/ERP environments (Infor LN experience preferred) is a plus.
