Job Description
We are a 65 year old company that has been providing Manufacturing Services, Distribution Services, and Sourcing/Logistics Services to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM's) from all industries. We are currently looking for a Purchasing Specialist to add to our current Purchasing Team to help support the growth of our organization. This is currently a on-site position only but may have the option of hybrid or remote after 6 - 12 months. Job Summary The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for sourcing, ordering, and managing the materials, products, and services required by the organization. This position works closely with suppliers and internal departments to ensure purchases meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements. Key Responsibilities Review purchase requests and issue purchase orders. Research, evaluate, and select qualified suppliers. Obtain and compare quotes, pricing, lead times, and terms. Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules. Monitor orders and follow up on late or incomplete deliveries. Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, and pricing records. Coordinate with inventory, operations, accounting, and other departments. Resolve invoice, quality, quantity, and shipping discrepancies. Monitor inventory levels and help prevent shortages or excess stock. Evaluate supplier performance and maintain positive vendor relationships. Identify cost-saving and process-improvement opportunities. Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and applicable regulations. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's, or bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or a related field preferred. Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory control, or supply chain operations preferred. Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to analyze prices, quotes, contracts, and inventory information. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and purchasing, ERP, or inventory-management systems. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with domestic and international suppliers. Knowledge of purchasing procedures and supply-chain best practices. Familiarity with ERP systems and vendor-management tools. Professional certification in purchasing or supply-chain management.
