Job Summary We are looking to add a purchasing agent to our team! This person sources raw materials (sheet, plate, structural steel), hardware, and shop consumables at the best price and quality. They manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, track inventory levels, and coordinate with production schedules to ensure the shop floor avoids downtime.

Duties Sourcing & Procurement Vendor Management Inventory Control Cost Analysis Dispute Resolution Requirements Technical Skills:

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, bill of materials (BOMs), and fabrication drawings. Proficiency in ERP/MRP software. [1, 2]

Industry Knowledge:

Deep understanding of metal grades, thicknesses, tolerances, and processing capabilities (laser cutting, bending, welding)

Soft Skills:

Exceptional negotiation, mathematical, and organizational skills. [1]

Multitasking Skills:

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail under tight deadlines. Strong communication skills for client interaction and internal collaboration; ability to present complex data insights clearly.
