Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create purchase orders for raw materials, out-plant processes, and plant supplies. Negotiate best purchase price, quality, and delivery terms. Identify new sources of materials. Evaluate inventory trends updating reorder points and lead times as needed. Maintain Purchased Item Masters/Cards in MRP system. Participate in vendor selection and ongoing performance evaluation. Review material exception report for potential late deliveries. Inform appropriate departments of risks or changes to the supply chain. Coordinate with suppliers to expedite materials as needed. Work with production, engineering, and suppliers to resolve material quality issues. Serve as a backup for answering phone and office questions.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Responsible for knowing current raw material requirements and maintaining at acceptable levels. Responsible for tracking inventory usage and maintaining appropriate reorder points and lead times. Responsible for the accuracy and timely completion of related documentation. Responsible for the approved vendor list and vendor evaluation. Responsible for being familiar with the identification of product and supplies. Responsible for recommending new or different materials, processes or procedures that could reduce costs or improve the quality of processes, procedures, or systems.
MISCELLANEOUS
Participate in periodic formal and informal training sessions to maintain and/or improve work related skills. Perform any other assigned activities, which may be associated or inherent with the position.
