CNC Parts and Castings Buyer

Job Description

Position:
Cashco has one opening for a CNC Parts and Castings Buyer.
Summary:
The CNC Parts & Castings Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the supply of machined components, castings, forgings, and related materials used in the manufacturing of industrial valves. This position works closely with production planning, engineering, quality, and suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of quality components while maintaining cost targets and inventory objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong procurement, supplier management, and negotiation skills, along with an understanding of manufacturing processes including CNC machining, casting, and metal fabrication.
Responsibilities:
Procure castings, forgings, CNC-machined components, and related manufacturing materials to support production schedules. Review MRP recommendations and place purchase orders to maintain material availability while minimizing excess inventory. Monitor supplier delivery performance and expedite orders as needed to avoid production disruptions. Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, and contractual agreements with suppliers. Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to support quality, delivery, and cost objectives. Collaborate with Engineering and Quality departments to resolve supplier quality issues and implement corrective actions. Source and qualify new suppliers to improve cost competitiveness, quality, and supply chain stability. Analyze supplier capacity, market conditions, and risks affecting material availability. Participate in supplier audits, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor data, and procurement documentation within the ERP system. Coordinate with production planning teams to manage shortages, schedule changes, and inventory requirements. Support annual budgeting and cost reduction initiatives. Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and ethical sourcing standards. Qualifications (Required): Associate's degree in supply chain, Business, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience. 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience purchasing CNC-machined parts, castings, forgings, or metal components. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, machining tolerances, and technical drawings. Experience with ERP/MRP systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities. Qualifications (Preferred): Experience in valve manufacturing, industrial equipment, or heavy manufacturing. Knowledge of stainless steel, carbon steel, ductile iron, and specialty alloy castings. APICS, CPIM, CPSM, or ISM certification. Experience working with domestic and international suppliers. Familiarity with supplier quality management processes.
Requirements:
Physical:
Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods. Domestic and International travel may be required to supplier location and manufacturing facilities. Ability to walk through manufacturing and warehouse environments.
