Mississippi (US-MS) The Role at a glance: We are looking to add a Procurement Analyst to our Trio Community Meals team. The Procurement Analyst is responsible for analyzing food purchasing data, identifying cost-savings opportunities, supporting strategic sourcing initiatives, and optimizing vendor relationships. This role serves as a key resource in managing food costs, evaluating product utilization, researching market trends, investigating opportunity buys, and driving procurement efficiencies across the organization. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with foodservice procurement knowledge to deliver data-driven recommendations that improve product quality, purchasing compliance, and overall supply chain performance What you'll be doing: Strategic Procurement & Cost Savings Analyze food purchasing trends, pricing data, and supplier performance to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities. Research and evaluate opportunity buys, market specials, and alternative sourcing options that provide cost advantages while maintaining product quality and operational standards. Monitor food industry trends and supplier pricing changes to proactively identify purchasing opportunities and risks. Conduct spend analysis to identify opportunities for product standardization, vendor consolidation, and improved purchasing compliance. Develop recommendations for reducing overall food costs through strategic sourcing initiatives and procurement efficiencies. Vendor & Supplier Management Partner with vendors and distributors to establish, negotiate, and maintain minimum order requirements that support operational and financial objectives. Assist in evaluating vendor performance related to service levels, pricing, fill rates, and product quality. Support supplier negotiations and bid processes by providing analytical insights and cost comparison data. Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to support ongoing cost containment and product innovation efforts. Product Research & Category Management Research new food products, ingredients, and manufacturers that align with organizational goals, menu requirements, and nutritional standards. Evaluate substitute products and alternative brands that offer cost benefits while meeting quality expectations. Support product testing, pricing comparisons, and implementation of approved product changes. Maintain product databases and sourcing documentation. Identify duplicate or underutilized products and recommend category optimization strategies. Procurement Analytics & Reporting Create and maintain procurement dashboards, scorecards, and reports using Power BI, Excel, and other business intelligence tools. Analyze purchasing data to identify trends, variances, compliance issues, and savings opportunities. Track and report realized savings from procurement initiatives and vendor programs. Develop data-driven recommendations for leadership regarding sourcing strategies, product selection, and vendor utilization. Support budgeting and forecasting activities through cost modeling and market analysis. Continuous Improvement Evaluate procurement processes and recommend improvements that increase efficiency and reduce costs. Collaborate with operations, nutrition, and finance teams to align sourcing strategies with organizational objectives. Assist in the development and implementation of procurement policies and purchasing best practices. Support special projects related to procurement optimization, product transitions, and supply chain initiatives. What we're looking for:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in foodservice procurement, sourcing, purchasing analysis, supply chain, category management, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating purchasing data, pricing trends, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis; experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools preferred.
- Knowledge of foodservice distribution, vendor management, sourcing practices, and contract administration.
- Experience researching products, evaluating suppliers, and supporting procurement decision-making.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Experience with ERP, purchasing, and inventory management systems preferred.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
