Summary:
The Purchasing Specialist initiates, prepares, processes, and verifies purchase orders following established guidelines to purchase materials and goods by required delivery dates in order to ensure appropriate levels of stock inventory items and ad hoc requests are maintained. Education and/or
Experience:
High school graduate or GED requiredOne year general work experience requiredKnowledge of purchasing processes preferredUnderstanding of vendor and supplier relationships preferredIntermediate computer skills with sound working knowledge of Microsoft OfficeWell organized with an attention to detailStrong communication and negotiation skills
Job Responsibilities:
Monitor inventory levels, initiate purchase ordersMaintain adequate levels of stock items, forward approved orders to suppliers, monitor fulfillment and expedite requests as neededPlace service calls on fixed assets (water coolers, coffee machines, printers, copiers, etc.)Research and select the most suitable suppliers in terms of reliability, product quality and cost efficiency for both stock items as well as approved ad-hoc purchasesRequest cost proposals and negotiate pricing to obtain comparative prices on a regular basis to ensure favorable pricing on all purchased itemsMaintain accurate and complete records of all transactions, purchase orders and order receipts; initiate the payment process when orders are fulfilledPrepare reports and maintain accurate inventory and procurement recordsPrepare expense reports for purchases made by company credit cardMaintain supply order request formsTrack and resolve purchasing and inventory problems and/or discrepanciesBuild and maintain positive, long-term relations with suppliersAnalyze industry and demand trends and develop recommendations to optimize sourcing strategies for the organizationUpdate purchasing procedures as neededPerform other duties as needed upon request from immediate supervisor Benefits of Joining the

Some positions within the credit union also qualify for quarterly performance incentives Paid time off for vacation, personal days, and holidays401(k) company contribution Teachers pays 100% of Dental & Vision premium Tuition reimbursement is offered to full-time employees Exclusive employee discount of 0.96% APR on credit card loans and a 1.00% APR on all other loans through Teachers The good faith range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00 per hour. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications and operational needs. The salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law. All candidates will be subject to a background check, credit check, and drug test to determine employment eligibility.
