Job Description

The Purchasing Coordinator independently manages day-to-day purchasing activities for raw materials, consumables, supplies, parts, tools, and other goods needed to support manufacturing, maintenance, shipping, and general operations. This role manages purchase orders from requisition through delivery, evaluates routine quotes, coordinates supplier communication, supports material availability, and partners with the Director of Supply Chain on sourcing, pricing, and supplier performance matters
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Coordinate daily purchasing activities for raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, shop supplies, office supplies, consumables, and other operational needs.
  • Generate and manage purchase orders in a timely manner according to approved vendors, pricing, purchasing standards, and approval thresholds.
  • Obtain routine quotes, confirm pricing, availability, lead times, and delivery schedules, and escalate major pricing changes or non-routine purchases to the Director of Supply Chain.
  • Confer with vendors to obtain product or service information, order confirmations, delivery updates, and shipment details.
  • Coordinate purchase requirements with internal operating departments including Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality, Shipping, Logistics, and Inventory.
  • Follow up on open purchase orders and expedite critical materials to support production schedules, customer requirements, and operational priorities.
  • Maintain supplier, item, pricing, and purchasing data within the ERP system in accordance with established data standards.
  • Collaborate with Inventory on receiving, material tracking, shortages, discrepancies, backorders, and inventory availability.
  • Support supplier performance tracking by documenting order accuracy, lead time, delivery performance, quality issues, and vendor responsiveness.
  • Assist in resolving defective, incorrect, late, or unacceptable goods or services with internal users, Inventory, Quality, and vendors.
  • Execute purchasing plans and vendor strategies established by the Director of Supply Chain.
  • Identify recurring purchasing, vendor, delivery, or inventory issues and recommend process improvements to the Director of Supply Chain.

(KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND
ABILITIES
)
  • Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing buying, purchasing, supply chain, or related experience.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing purchasing, ERP systems, inventory planning, lead times, and material availability.
  • Strong organization, follow-up, communication, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with vendors and internal departments in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Basic quote comparison, problem-solving, and order-expediting skills.
  • ERP system experience required; Microsoft Excel experience preferred.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds as needed during inventory checks.
  • Able to wear required PPE; ear plugs, safety glasses, steel toed boots when on the shop floor or outdoors in the inventory yard.
  • Able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch as required.
  • May be required to work in office, plant, shipping, receiving, inventory yard, supplier, or customer environments.
Pay:
$25.00 - $32.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
