Our client design and manufacture fiber optic connectors, fiber optic cable assemblies, and custom fiber optic products. Their customer base is 1st and 2nd Tier Defense System Integrators, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), High-End Equipment Rental Houses, and Cable Assembly / Harness Manufacturers. Our client's business is diverse, with 60% Military / Aerospace (Air, Land, and Sea), 20% Broadcast (Mobile Video Broadcast, and Pro-Audio), and 20% Industrial (Oil & Gas, Mining, Marine, Scientific, and Medical).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Be a hands-on, self-motivated, hyper organized, highly detailed, and results-oriented Buyer supporting company's Machining, Warehouse, and Connector / Cable Assembly operations company-wide.
Operate existing tools and company's ERP system to manage purchasing activity, supplier commitments, inventory levels, and material availability, ensuring accurate, timely, and complete transaction execution to support company-wide data integrity and company's goal of achieving >90% On-Time Delivery with industry-leading lead times.
Maintain visibility of purchased material needs and, with input from company's Sales and Engineering teams, determine suppliers, request and evaluate quotes, negotiate pricing and terms, execute purchase orders, and follow up with suppliers to ensure required materials are available to support company's production schedule.
Create, release, and manage external purchase orders for raw materials, purchased components, and outside processing services in alignment with approved planning priorities, demand signals, and usage trends while avoiding excess, obsolete, or duplicate inventory.
Actively manage open purchase orders by confirming supplier commitments, delivery dates, and quantities; proactively expedite, communicate, and escalate risks related to delays, shortages, or quality issues that may impact production or customer delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS
BS or BA degree preferred.
2+ years of experience in a Buyer, Purchasing and/or Procurement role working with raw materials, hardware, and/or technical components.
Strong working knowledge of
ERP / MRP
systems (Fishbowl experience preferred), including accurate transaction execution, data maintenance, and purchasing-related reporting.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including running and analyzing reports, working with data from multiple sources, and using formulas to support purchasing decisions and operational needs.
Must be comfortable and have the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment that is subject to continuous innovation and improvement as company continues its rapid growth.
Experience working in an ISO9001:2015 / AS9100D certified manufacturing environment.
