Full-time Position Overview We are seeking a dependable and organized Purchasing Agent to support the daily purchasing needs of a busy manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for ordering factory supplies, replacement machine parts, maintenance items, safety equipment, and production consumables. The Purchasing Agent will work closely with production supervisors, maintenance personnel, machine operators, suppliers, and outside service providers to ensure necessary materials and services are available on time. Responsibilities Purchase factory supplies, industrial hardware, fasteners, machine parts, tooling, safety equipment, and production consumables. Monitor inventory levels and reorder commonly used supplies before stock runs low. Request and compare quotes from multiple suppliers. Create and submit purchase orders. Follow up on open orders, delivery dates, and vendor commitments. Coordinate with production, maintenance, and department managers to identify purchasing needs. Schedule and track outside services, including knife grinding, tooling repair, and equipment maintenance. Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor information, pricing, and order documentation. Review part numbers, equipment manuals, and supplier catalogs to locate the correct items. Resolve shortages, damaged shipments, order discrepancies, and other vendor issues. Identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining product quality and reliable service. Assist with additional purchasing and administrative responsibilities as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in purchasing, manufacturing, industrial distribution, maintenance, inventory control, or warehouse operations is preferred. Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with industrial parts and supplies. Ability to identify common hardware, fasteners, replacement parts, and maintenance supplies. Comfortable reading part numbers, equipment manuals, and supplier catalogs. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple orders and priorities. Professional phone and email communication skills. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Excel. Experience with purchasing, inventory, or ERP software is preferred. Strong follow-up skills and the ability to work independently.
