Job Description:

We are a precision manufacturing company seeking a Purchasing Engineer to support sourcing, vendor management, and procurement of machined components, fabricated parts, and raw materials. This role requires someone who can read engineering drawings, understand manufacturing processes, and work directly with machine shops, fabrication vendors, and material suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiate pricing, and manage supplier performance. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment and understands how CNC machining, welding, sheet metal, and raw materials are sourced and produced.

Responsibilities:

Source and procure machined parts, weldments, sheet metal, and raw materials Read and interpret mechanical drawings and bills of material Request and evaluate supplier quotes Negotiate cost, lead time, and delivery Develop and manage supplier relationships Support make-vs-buy decisions Work closely with engineering and production teams Track purchase orders and delivery schedules Identify cost-reduction and supplier improvement opportunities Maintain accurate records in ERP/MRP systems

Requirements:

Experience in manufacturing purchasing or supply chain Ability to read mechanical drawings Knowledge of machining, fabrication, or welding processes Experience working with outside vendors and suppliers Strong communication and organizational skills ERP/MRP system experience preferred

Preferred:

Machine shop or fabrication background Experience sourcing CNC machined parts Experience sourcing raw materials (steel, aluminum, etc.) ISO or AS9100 manufacturing environment

$28.00 - $34.00 per hour
