  • Purchasing & Inventory Springfield, Oregon | Full-Time | Starting at $25/hour
Shift:
8am-5pm Do you like solving problems, staying ahead of the details, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks? You might be exactly who we're looking for. We're looking for a Buyer with 1-2+ years of purchasing, inventory or supply-chain experience to join our Purchasing team. You'll help keep inventory moving throughout our company by managing branch transfers, direct purchases, vendor returns, bandsaw blade orders, and supplier drop shipments..
What You'll Do Branch Transfers:
Coordinate inventory transfers between locations, track open transfers, resolve discrepancies, and look for opportunities to use inventory already available within the company before purchasing more.
Branch Direct Purchases:
Process branch purchasing requests, create purchase orders, confirm pricing and availability, track backorders, and communicate changes or delays.
Vendor Returns:
Coordinate returns of defective, incorrect, excess, or returnable inventory, including vendor authorizations, documentation, product movement, and follow-through on credits.
Bandsaw Blade Ordering:
Manage blade orders, verify specifications and quantities, coordinate with suppliers, and track orders through completion.
Drop Ship Orders:
Manage supplier drop shipments, verify order and shipping details, track delivery, and resolve discrepancies.
Warehouse Backup:
During emergencies or unusual staffing situations, occasionally assist our Central Distribution Warehouse with receiving, staging, moving, or organizing inventory. This is backup coverage—not a regular part of the Buyer position.
Who You Are You Share Our Core Values:
Skills can be taught; who you are and how you show up matters even more to us. You're Transparent, Agile, Humble, Selfless, Curious, and Kind, and you take genuine Pride in your Work. You treat people well, own your mistakes, help where needed, and care about doing things the right way—even when no one is watching .
Purchasing Experienced:
You have at least 1-2 years of relevant purchasing, buying, inventory, supply-chain, or similar experience and understand purchase orders, vendors, inventory, and order tracking.
Tech Comfortable:
You're confident learning and using purchasing and inventory systems, databases, Microsoft Office, supplier websites, and new technology that can improve efficiency and accuracy.
Highly Organized:
You can keep multiple orders, transfers, returns, and vendor issues moving without losing track of details.
Accurate:
You understand that part numbers, quantities, pricing, specifications, and shipping information have to be right.
Dependable:
You take ownership and follow things through to completion rather than waiting for someone else to chase them down. And you're reliably at work every day, happy to help our customers and teammates.
A Problem Solver:
Backorders, shortages, and discrepancies don't stop you—you investigate, communicate, and work toward a solution.
Service-Minded:
You understand that our branches depend on Purchasing and keep people informed when something changes.
Adaptable:
You can shift priorities when business needs change while keeping important work on track. What We're Looking For 1-2+ years of purchasing, buying, inventory, supply-chain, or closely related experience preferred. Industrial distribution, manufacturing, wholesale, or other inventory-driven experience is a plus. Strong computer, organizational, communication, and basic math skills. Ability to learn new technology and business systems quickly. Ability to work independently while collaborating with branches, warehouses, suppliers, and our internal Sales, Customer Service, Accounting and Purchasing teams. Comfortable occasionally working in an industrial warehouse environment as emergency back up. Ability to safely lift and handle products weighing up to 50 pounds when providing warehouse backup.
