Job Description

Join our creative team managing a large volume of artwork to include cataloging purchases, logistics, tracking international auctions, appraisals, etc. About Us We are a boutique art company of 20+ years. Our mission is to ensure smooth purchasing, inventory management, and cataloging of artworks while staying connected to the global art market. Job Summary This position will catalog volumes of artwork, artwork logistics, and track international auctions. This role requires strong Excel skills, attention to detail, and a passion for the art world. Conversational French is a plus, as many of our vendors and auction houses are international.
Key Responsibilities Inventory Documentation:
Catalog artworks, maintain volume records, and photograph new pieces.
Auction Market Research:
Monitor and document international art auctions, including pricing trends and acquisitions.
Auction Market Research:
Track international auctions and compile pricing insights
Overseas Art Spotter Coordination:
Support and monitor assignments for our Paris‑based art spotter.
Vendor relations:
Communicate with local and international suppliers; French language skills preferred.
Excel reporting:
Create and maintain spreadsheets for purchasing, inventory, appraisals, and auction tracking.
Appraisal Services Support:
Assist with digital content for our new appraisal offerings
Collaboration:
Work closely with curators, artists, and administrative staff to anticipate material and cataloging needs. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in purchasing, inventory, or supply chain coordination. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, reporting). Background in the art industry (galleries, museums, auction houses, or studios). Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Conversational French (preferred but not required). What We Offer Part-time schedule (up to 24 hours/week) on Wed, Thu & Fri $27/hour compensation. Exposure to international art markets and auctions. Collaborative, creative work environment in the San Francisco Bay Area. Occasional onsite travel to local storage facility. Opportunities for professional growth in art operations and logistics.
