Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
This salaried non-exempt position will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager.MAJOR DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES
- Purchasing of raw materials, components, equipment, machinery, provides guidance and assistance for contracted services.
- Plans necessary purchase amount by studying production forecast and safety stock levels.
- Takes initiative in minimizing cost on all procurement items.
- Reviews purchase order claims and contracts, negotiates with freight companies and custom brokers, prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices for direct material, coordinates activities relating to supplier development and performance.
- Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability.
- Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid.
- Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
- Maintains manual or computerized procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance and inventories.
- Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with vendors and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
- Matches packing list with invoices and resolves any issues related to this.
- May approve invoices for payment.
- May expedite delivery of goods to users.
- Responsibilities also include data processing.
- Maintains all documentation and purchasing activities conform to IATF standards
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills including: inventory and purchasing control programs including backup skills for
DDL, ASN, EDI.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Strong communications skills including written, verbal, and telephonic.
- Working understanding of
IATF, ISO 14001.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing.
