This role sources materials competitively, ensures on-time delivery aligned to production schedules, and maintains accurate cost data within
PIMS/ERP
systems to support real-time financial visibility and production performance. This role ensures supplier selection, pricing decisions, purchase order execution, and pricing data used in bids and quotes are maintained with discipline, documentation, and alignment to engineering BOMs, production requirements, and approved cost inputs. Essential Responsibilities Execute RFQs, supplier sourcing, quote comparison, and purchase order issuance in alignment with purchasing policies and production requirements Obtain and document competitive quotes (minimum three where applicable) and maintain a clear, auditable record of supplier selection rationale for every purchase Select suppliers based on cost, lead time, quality, and performance—not convenience—and escalate exceptions for Business Operations Manager approval Ensure all materials are ordered and delivered on time to meet production schedules and prevent shortages at the point of build NPI (New Product Introduction) is a structured, cross‑functional process that takes a product from concept and design through prototyping, validation, pilot builds, full‑rate production, and commercial launch. It reduces risk, accelerates time‑to‑market, and ensures manufacturability, quality, and supply‑chain readiness. Track all open purchase orders and proactively follow up with suppliers to confirm delivery commitments and prevent delays Identify and escalate material risks, shortages, lead time changes, or supplier issues early to prevent downstream production impact Maintain accurate and current purchasing data inERP/PIMS
systems, including order status, pricing, supplier commitments, and delivery dates Update material costs inPIMS/ERP
within 24 hours of purchase order execution and ensure updated pricing is available and used in bids and quotes to maintain real-time cost visibility and margin accuracy. Verify alignment between engineering BOMs, purchasing requirements, and production needs prior to order placement Support supplier performance management by providing execution-level feedback on cost, delivery, and quality to the Business Operations Manager Prevent premium or expedited purchases caused by poor planning, late ordering, or inadequate follow-through Ensure purchase quantities align to demand and do not create excess, obsolete, or slow-moving inventory Support cost reduction and sourcing optimization initiatives as directed by the Business Operations Manager Maintain complete and organized purchasing documentation including POs, acknowledgements, quotes, and supplier communications Qualifications & Experience Required Associate's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field—or equivalent experience 3-5+ years of purchasing or buying experience in a manufacturing environment Experience operating in high-mix, production-driven environments with variable demand Strong understanding of BOMs, supplier sourcing, lead times, and material cost drivers Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing setting Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through discipline Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy under production-driven timelines Preferred Experience in cable assemblies, wire harnesses, or electro-mechanical manufacturing Exposure to regulated industries (aerospace, defense, medical) Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, or engineering documentation Familiarity with supplier performance management and cost reduction methodologies Work Environment / Physical Requirements Full-time, on-site position. This role operates primarily in an office environment with regular presence on the production floor to verify material status, inspect incoming deliveries, and coordinate with production personnel. Requires prolonged use of ERP systems, email, and telephone for supplier communication. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs and perform basic physical movements including bending, reaching, and standing for moderate periods. Compliance with all facility safety, PPE, and ESD requirements is mandatory when in production areas Regulatory / Compliance Requirement This role operates within a regulated manufacturing environment and must ensure all purchasing activities comply with ITAR, RoHS, UL, IPC, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and AS9100 requirements.
