As a Freight Professional at Paper Skyscraper, you play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate handling, processing, and distribution of products within our retail environment. Reporting to the Freight Manager, your primary responsibilities encompass freight processing, inventory management and distribution, and product quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
Freight Processing:
Receive incoming shipments, verifying products against invoices or order forms and purchase orders. Ensure products contain no damages, proper reporting when damages are found. Properly label products with accurate pricing information and allocate them to their designated stores or storage units.
Inventory Management:
Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory by updating the system upon receipt of new freight. Coordinate with the Freight Manager to conduct routine inventory checks (cycle counting), ensuring system data matches physical stock, and communicate any discrepancies. Package up transfer orders and replenishment orders to be delivered to corresponding stores.
Quality Control:
Ensure any damaged products are caught prior to being sent out on the sales floor. Document any damages on proper order form and tracker. Reach out to vendors about damages immediately, and follow up until resolution is found. Do store walkthroughs weekly, to ensure no products have been damaged or are expired on the sales floor, and take appropriate steps if something is found.
General Maintenance and Organization:
Ensure that workspaces and storage areas are kept tidy, organized, and safe. Monitor inventory levels and communicate any noticeable discrepancies or stock shortages to the Freight Manager. Ensure backstock is always properly labeled, perishables have correct expiration dates visible, and that oldest products are being pulled from first. Freight Deliveries Deliveries between stores are done in personal vehicles, so you must have a reliable form of transportation. Unloading and helping store teams unpack deliveries as needed.
Team Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with other team members, to ensure smooth business operations. Check freight in at stores when staffing needs arise. Participate in training sessions and team meetings as required. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Freight Processing Accuracy :
Ensure all received items are correctly logged and stored.
Inventory Accuracy :
Minimize discrepancies between system data and physical stock.
Efficiency:
Meet daily and weekly goals set by the Freight Manager.
Flexibility:
Every day looks different, it is crucial for the candidate to think on their toes, and be able to re-prioritize what their day looks like to meet business needs.
Qualifications:
Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in freight processing and order preparation. Prior experience in a logistics, warehouse, or retail setting is beneficial. Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills, with an aptitude for managing inventory. Strong computer proficiency for inventory management and order processing. Ability to to lift 50+ lbs. Clean driving record, and ability to drive a van (during peak holiday season). Weekend availability. Positive attitude.
Reporting Structure:
Reports directly to the Freight Manager.
Pay:
$15.00 - $17.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 - 30.0 per week
