Full-TimeModernForm Cabinets & Closets is seeking an experienced Warehouse Dispatcher & Transportation Coordinator to oversee our daily transportation operations and freight logistics.
This position is responsible for coordinating local deliveries, booking inbound and outbound freight, managing carrier relationships, and ensuring every shipment leaves our warehouse safely, accurately, and on schedule. The ideal candidate understands that transportation doesn't end when a truck is booked—it ends when the customer receives their order in perfect condition.
Experience in cabinetry, furniture, millwork, or building materials is highly preferred. Responsibilities Dispatch daily local deliveries and coordinate driver schedules. Schedule and book LTL and FTL shipments through our network of freight brokers and carrier partners. Utilize DAT Load Board and other freight resources to secure the most competitive shipping rates. Research new freight carriers and transportation options to reduce shipping costs and improve service. Build and maintain strong relationships with freight brokers, carriers, and transportation partners. Verify all inbound and outbound shipments for accuracy, routing, scheduling, and documentation. Coordinate pickup appointments, delivery appointments, shipment tracking, and proof of delivery. Process and manage freight claims, concealed damage claims, shortages, and carrier disputes. Work closely with the warehouse, sales team, customer service, and inventory coordinator to ensure customer orders and inventory transfers are executed efficiently. Coordinate inter-branch inventory transfers while maximizing truck utilization and minimizing freight expense. Oversee staging of outbound orders, ensuring shipments are properly wrapped, protected, palletized, and secured to minimize freight damage while avoiding unnecessary packaging costs. Inspect staged orders prior to shipment to ensure they meet company standards for protection and presentation. Monitor carrier performance, freight costs, and transit times while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement. Maintain accurate Bills of Lading, shipping paperwork, freight records, and transportation reports. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in transportation, dispatching, freight coordination, or logistics. Strong knowledge of LTL and FTL shipping. Experience using freight brokers, carrier portals, DAT Load Board, or similar freight management systems. Experience processing freight claims and transportation documentation. Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to prioritize multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong sense of urgency. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Comfortable building long-term relationships with carriers and transportation partners. Proficient with Microsoft Office and computer-based shipping software. Experience in cabinetry, furniture, millwork, windows, doors, or building materials is highly preferred.
