JOB DETAILS
The Opportunity MaineHealth, a $3.7 billion mission-driven, not-for-profit integrated health system is seeking an accomplished healthcare executive to serve as President of its Coastal Region, a role combining meaningful scale, local autonomy, and lasting community impact. The Organization MaineHealth serves 1.1 million people across Maine and New Hampshire, with 25,000+ care team members, 2,500+ employed providers, a full continuum of care, from tertiary services to rural critical access hospitals, and is nationally recognized for quality, safety, and patient experience.
The Coastal Region includes:
MaineHealth Mid Coast Hospital (Brunswick)
  • 93 beds MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital (Rockport)
  • 99 beds MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital (Damariscotta / Boothbay Harbor)
  • 25 bed Critical Access Hospital with senior care continuum MaineHealth Waldo Hospital (Belfast)
  • 25 bed Critical Access Hospital Collectively, the region represents: 240+ licensed beds 4,000+ care team members 30+ primary care and specialty service lines Strong quality, safety, and rural hospital performance recognition The Position The President, Coastal Region is accountable for the strategic, operational, financial, and cultural performance of MaineHealth's Coastal Region.
Reporting to the MaineHealth Chief Operating Officer and working closely with the Coastal Region Board, the President will lead an integrated network of hospitals, physicians, and care teams across inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory settings. The President will partner closely with system service line leaders, medical group leadership, and fellow regional presidents to advance MaineHealth's mission while addressing the unique needs of coastal Maine communities.
Responsibilities Regional Strategy & Integration:
Shape and execute strategy that advances quality, access, growth, and sustainability while integrating hospitals, service lines, and the medical group.
Operational Excellence:
Ensure strong performance in quality, safety, patient experience, and day to day operations.
Financial Stewardship:
Full accountability for operating and capital budgets; margin management and long term financial health.
Governance Partnership:
Serve as a trusted senior leader to the Coastal Region Board and MaineHealth executive leadership.
Physician & Clinical Alignment:
Build strong, collaborative relationships with employed and independent physicians and clinical leaders.
People & Culture:
Recruit, develop, and inspire a high performing regional leadership team.
Community Leadership:
Act as the visible executive presence across coastal communities, government, and external partners.
