Job Description

Position Summary The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive and administrative officer of the agency and is responsible for leading the organization in fulfillment of its mission and vision to provide high-quality substance use prevention, intervention, treatment, recovery support, and related community-based services. The ED for Aiken Center should bridge the day to day operations and strategic vision and change management. This position reports directly to the Board of Commissioners and provides strategic, operational, and financial leadership to ensure the agency remains mission-driven, fiscally responsible, compliant, and responsive to community needs. Key Responsibilities Strategic and Mission Leadership o Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to develop, implement, and monitor the agency's strategic plan, goals, and priorities; o Provide visionary, ethical, and mission-centered leadership for the agency, staff, programs, and community partnerships; o Represent the agency professionally with public officials, funders, referral sources, partner organizations, media, and the broader community; o Promote a culture of accountability and compliance, inclusion, continuous quality improvement (CQI), trauma-informed care (TIC), and client-centered service delivery; o Responsible for internal capacity building, staff retention, and infrastructure maintenance. Program Oversight and Quality of Services o Oversee the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of substance use prevention, treatment, recovery, and support services through the CQI management team; o Ensure programs are evidence-informed, culturally responsive, accessible, and aligned with applicable standards, contracts, community needs, and data-informed quality indicators; o Monitor outcomes, service utilization, client satisfaction, and compliance trends while supporting collaboration among clinical, prevention, administrative, fiscal, and support staff. Financial Management and Sustainability o Develop and manage the agency's annual budget in partnership with appropriate staff and the Board of Directors; o Ensure sound fiscal stewardship, internal controls, accurate reporting, and responsible use of public, private, grant, and donor funds; o Identify and pursue funding opportunities, grants, contracts, donations, and partnerships that support long-term financial sustainability; o Provide timely financial, operational, and programmatic reports to the Board of Directors, funders, and regulatory bodies as required. Compliance, Risk Management, and Governance Ensure agency compliance with applicable laws, licensing and accreditation requirements, grant and contract obligations, payer and confidentiality standards, and organizational policies while maintaining effective procedures, documentation systems, and quality assurance practices; Identify organizational risks and implement appropriate prevention, mitigation, reporting, and corrective action strategies; o Serve as the primary Board liaison and support effective governance, communication, planning, and decision-making. Human Resources and Staff Leadership o Recruit, supervise, support, evaluate, and retain qualified leadership and staff through the CQI management team and in accordance with agency policies and employment laws; o Ensure effective staffing, supervision, credentialing, training, performance management, professional development, ethical practice, clear communication, teamwork, and employee engagement; o Lead with integrity, transparency, professionalism, and commitment to the agency's mission and vision statements. Minimum Qualifications o Education and experience should be directly related to the position, with demonstrated training and or an equivalent combination of education and experience in government, nonprofit, or related settings that provides evidence of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for successful performance in the position; o Relevant experience must include a minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience; o Applicant must have measurable track record and competencies applicable to the key responsibilities of this role. Physical and Work Environment Requirements o This position generally operates in a professional office and community-based environment. The ED will be required to attend meetings outside normal business hours, travel locally and regionally, speak publicly, and respond to urgent organizational matters as needed. From $100,000.00 per year
