Salary :
$90,000 annually.

Resume Cover Letter List of three references Position Summary Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Auxiliary Services and Strategic Initiatives, the Director provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and fiscal stewardship for the Student Union, the future Student Success Building, and conference services. The Director is responsible for maximizing the impact, utilization, and sustainability of these highly visible campus destinations through innovative services, conference and event operations, strategic partnerships, revenue generation, and operational excellence. As a Campus Operations Leader, the Director advances the student experience through the activation of university gathering spaces, cultivation of campus and community partnerships, implementation of institutional priorities, and stewardship of resources that support student success, campus connection, and community engagement.
Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Planning - 30% Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Student Union, Student Success Building, and conference services in guiding long and short-range planning, facility utilization, resource development, and strategic initiatives that enhance the student experience and support university priorities. Lead operational readiness, occupancy transition, and activation planning efforts for the Student Union and Student Success Building, including service delivery models, staffing plans, operation, procedures, and facility opening strategies. Provide strategic leadership for conferences and event services operations, aligning programs, facilities, and resources with institutional/division/department priorities. Establish and lead a comprehensive, data-informed assessment program, including, but not limited to, customer satisfaction, utilization, service quality, and operational assessments, to evaluate the effectiveness, utilization, and overall impact of the Student Union's and Student Success Building facilities, programs, and services. Financial Management, Reporting, & Revenue Generation - 25% Responsible for the financial operation of the department facilities and services. Direct and oversee an operating budget of $2 million. Perform cost and operational efficiency analyses. Prepare, review, and reconcile financial statements, monitor expenditures, and maintain appropriate records. Establish, monitor, and report key performance indicators related to facility utilization, customer satisfaction, conference operations, revenue generation, operational effectiveness, and strategic outcomes. Prepare regular financial, staffing, utilization, facilities, assessment, and operational reports. Work closely with campus and external partners to identify new revenue opportunities, expand strategic partnerships, and support long-term financial sustainability. Establish annual revenue targets and measurable performance goals for conference services, facility utilization, strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and other approved revenue-generating activities. Monitor and report results to support continued growth. Facility Operations, Policies, & Compliance - 20% Manage the daily operations of the Student Union and assigned facilities, ensuring customer-centered service, operational continuity, safety, and compliance with applicable University, UT System, state, and federal requirements. Oversee facility utilization, space scheduling, conference and event operations, building access, service delivery, and coordination of operational support functions. Utilize facility and operational metrics, including traffic patterns, space utilization, booking analytics, customer feedback, and service data, to optimize operating hours, resource allocation, staffing, and capital improvement priorities. Coordinate with Facilities Management, Information Technology, Environmental Health and Safety, food service providers, contractors, vendors, and other campus partners to ensure effective facility operations and service delivery. Provide operational coordination for renovation, construction, and facility improvement projects, including continuity planning, transition activities, space activation, technology readiness, furnishings, equipment, and reopening strategies. Develop and maintain departmental operating procedures, emergency protocols, service standards, and internal controls to support safe, efficient, and consistent operations. Staff Leadership & Supervision - 10% Provide leadership, supervision, and direction for Student Union staff, fostering a high-performing, customer-focused team committed to delivering exceptional services, programs, and experiences for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Provide leadership for staff development and workforce planning by fostering a culture of continuous improvement, supporting professional growth and learning opportunities. Build organizational capacity by developing supervisory and leadership capacity within the department, and high-performing teams capable of supporting evolving divisional needs. Campus Engagement, Events, & Representation - 10% Serve as the primary operational liaison for high-profile University events between department and internal/external customers. Represent the department and division at meetings by developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with campus partners, community organizations, and external stakeholders to advance institutional priorities and maximize utilization of facilities. Participate in various campus committees, professional trainings, industry conferences, and conventions. Other duties as assigned - 5% Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems. Occasional travel required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's objectives, policies, and applicable laws. Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Higher Education Administration, Hospitality Management, Student Affairs, Facility Management, Public Administration, or a related field. and
Experience:
Five years of related experience and/or training in the essential duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in university union operations, conference and event services, auxiliary services, facility operations, hospitality, student affairs administration, or a related service-oriented environment, including a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or management experience. Experience in managing budgets, facility or venue operations, customer service functions, and multiple operational priorities is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited university. Four or more years of related experience in student affairs, facility management/operations, or a combination of the above. Bilingual (English/Spanish). Demonstrated professional involvement in ACUI, ACCED-I, NASPA or other professional organizations.
