Responsibilities Position Overview The position provides legal support across field, commercial and corporate operations functions to an established renewable power company that develops, owns, operates and maintains electric power generation and transmission assets across the United States and Canada. This role partners closely with cross-fun ctional stakeholders—including Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Asset Management, and Commercial teams—to deliver practical, business-oriented legal advice and to manage a wide range of commercial and operational agreements in the energy sector. Provide legal support to Field Operations, Health & Safety, Engineering, and Asset Management teams. This position plays a key role in supporting trading and commercial activities, contract lifecycle management, and risk mitigation, while enabling the business to execute efficiently and in compliance with internal policies and industry standards. Key Responsibilities Commercial & Trading Legal Support Draft, review, and negotiate commodity trading agreements, including: EEI Agreements ISDA Agreements WSPP Agreements Advise on trading-related matters, credit and collateral provisions, and risk allocation structures. Support Energy Management and Commercial teams on transaction structuring and dispute resolution. Operations & Project Support Draft, negotiate and offer solutions-oriented advice on a broad range of operational and project agreements, including: Master Service Agreements (MSAs) and task/work orders Operations & Maintenance (O&M) agreements Equipment supply and turbine agreements Transmission and interconnection agreements (e.g., LGIAs, TSAs) Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) Land leases and site-related agreements Advise on operational issues such as warranty claims, contractor performance, landowner concerns, and offtaker disputes. Corporate & Business Support Agreements Draft, review, and manage high-volume, business-critical agreements, including: Non-disclosure/confidentiality agreements (NDAs) Master service and supply agreements Vendor, consulting, and procurement agreements Provide practical, responsive legal support for internal clients to enable timely business execution. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Compliance Partner with internal stakeholders including Finance, Tax, Accounting, Insurance, and Supply Chain to ensure: Contract alignment with commercial objectives Compliance with internal policies and risk frameworks Balance speed to execution with appropriate legal and governance controls. Risk Management & Legal Guidance Identify, assess, and mitigate contractual and operational risks, including indemnities, liabilities, and insurance requirements. Provide clear, actionable legal advice on complex and fast-moving operational matters. Exercise independent judgment in approving contracts and managing legal workflows. Qualifications Qualifications & Experience Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; active license to practice law 7-10+ years of legal experience, preferably in the energy or commodities sector Demonstrated experience with: Commodity trading agreements (EEI, ISDA, WSPP) Drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements Supporting operations and supply chain functions Strong understanding of contractual risk allocation, including indemnities and liability structures Core Competencies Strong commercial acumen and business judgment Ability to manage high-volume workloads and competing priorities effectively Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills Practical, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to operate independently High attention to detail and strong analytical/problem-solving skills Why This Role This role offers the opportunity to operate at the intersection of legal, commercial, and operational functions within a dynamic energy environment. You will serve as a trusted advisor to key business teams, helping to drive execution while managing risk and supporting strategic objectives. The expected starting pay range for this role is $149,000 - $186,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern's compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
