The Judicial Branch's External Affairs Division is seeking a Deputy Director to manage and coordinate the Judicial Branch's media relations, including but not limited to media inquiries, assisting all five Branch divisions with coordinating media responses, assisting with events, including high-profile trials as needed, and supervising the processing of camera requests from the media. The deputy director will also manage both internal and external publications of the Branch, work with the Executive Director in developing a social media campaign designed to enhance public trust and confidence in the judiciary and as requested prepare speeches and/or assist in the development and use of visual aids. The deputy director will supervise employees within the division, and at least five years of supervision is highly preferred. Please note that remote work is not contemplated for this position.

GUIDELINES FOR CLASSIFICATION USE
Assignment of Deputy Directors to the I, II and III levels will be determined by the Chief Court Administrator based on recommendations from the appropriate Executive Director.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Directs programs and/or staff as assigned; coordinates, plans and directs operational or administrative activities as assigned; formulates program goals and objectives in accordance with division policies and standards; develops related policies; conducts performance evaluations; maintains contacts with individuals both within and outside of the Branch who might impact on division activities; provides guidance and direction to field offices regarding division and Branch policies and procedures; develops and maintains systems for evaluating program performance and effectiveness; assists in the review, development and implementation of legislation and the unit's budget; prepares reports and correspondence; may act for the Director during absences; assists with or performs projects as assigned; develops and conducts staff training programs; analyzes operations to determine needs and makes recommendations for improvement; represents the division on a variety of committees; develops forms, manuals and other instructional materials; performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
General Experience:
Ten years of professional experience exercising administrative or supervisory responsibilities.
Substitutions Allowed:
1) College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen semester hours equaling one-half year of experience to a maximum of four years for a Bachelor's degree. 2) A law degree or a master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one additional year of the General Experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Incumbents may be required to travel in the course of their daily work.
