The Resident Camp Director provides year-round leadership for assigned resident camp programs and operations. This position oversees program quality, staff development, participant safety, risk management, family communication, and achievement of program and financial goals. The Resident Camp Director ensures assigned programs are mission-driven, well managed, and compliant with YMCA policies, applicable laws, licensing requirements, American Camp Association standards, and other relevant requirements. Responsibilities may include oversight of summer camp, camper services, wilderness and adventure programming, BOLD/GOLD, group camping, family camp, or other resident camp functions based on the assigned portfolio.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years of age; bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent education and experience Minimum three years of progressive experience in resident camp, youth development, outdoor recreation, or a comparable setting Demonstrated experience supervising, training, and developing staff and/or volunteers Strong leadership, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Experience managing programs, budgets, and operational priorities in a fast-paced environment Must be observant, safety-conscious, and able to respond calmly and effectively in emergencies Required YMCA and safety certifications must be obtained and maintained within established timelines Additional specialized experience, skills, and certifications may be required based on the assigned program portfolio
