Our Opportunity:
Corporate Development and Mergers & Acquisitions (CDMA) at Chewy is responsible for helping shape Chewy's growth strategy by identifying industry trends, maintaining relationships with relevant external partners, and sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, structuring, and executing strategic acquisitions, partnerships, and investments across Chewy's businesses. As the pet industry continues to evolve, the CDMA organization maintains a continuous view of the competitive landscape, emerging technologies, and adjacent markets to identify opportunities aligned with Chewy's priorities. The team helps shape decisions around inorganic growth, including acquisitions, investments, and build-versus-buy opportunities, to accelerate innovation and long-term growth. We partner closely with leaders across Product, Technology, Category Management, Finance, Legal, Accounting, and Executive Leadership to evaluate and execute strategic transactions. Chewy is seeking a Corporate Development Manager (M&A) who will report into the Associate Director of CDMA. The successful candidate will possess exceptional analytical ability, business and financial acumen, and sound judgment to protect and grow Chewy's reputation as a brand and company. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving complex strategic problems, and is comfortable interacting with senior executives, founders, and external advisors
What You'll Do:
Support Chewy's growth strategy through identification, assessment and execution of potential mergers, acquisitions, investments, partnerships, joint ventures, and divestitures Collaborate with Business Unit Leaders to identify and evaluate corporate development opportunities in a structured and proactive fashion Develop recommendations through market research, competitive analysis, and evaluation of emerging technologies, business models, and adjacent markets. Lead assigned workstreams across the transaction lifecycle, including sourcing, market research, financial modeling, valuation, strategic analysis, due diligence, deal execution, closing, and integration planning. Help improve internal corporate development processes, market intelligence, and acquisition playbooks, including identifying opportunities to leverage AI and other emerging technologies to improve team effectiveness.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree required; Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, or other quantitative disciplines preferred. 3-5 years of transaction experience in Investment Banking (M&A or industry coverage), Corporate Development and/or Private Equity. Experience at a top-tier investment bank or acquisitive public company is preferred. Experience working in a demanding and fast-paced environment with highly motivated and driven professionals Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, including expertise in financial modeling, valuation, strategic analysis, and rigorous quantitative analyses, with a strong understanding of accounting and operating metrics Ability to handle projects with multiple workstreams and manage complex cross-enterprise projects with multiple stakeholders at both senior and junior levels Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills Strong ownership mindset with a proactive, action-oriented, and team player approach Strong intellectual curiosity and a passion for learning about new industries, technologies, and business models.
