  • California We are looking for an experienced Drayage Dispatcher to join our growing trucking operation in Southern California.
The ideal candidate has experience with port/container trucking and can manage drivers, appointments, container availability, and daily dispatch operations in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Dispatch company drivers and owner-operators for daily drayage loads Coordinate pickups and deliveries between ports and customers/our warehouse Monitor container availability, appointments, Last Free Day (LFD), and empty return locations Schedule port/terminal appointments and manage changes throughout the day Track drivers and containers from pickup through delivery and empty return Communicate clearly with drivers regarding load instructions, appointments, delays, and changes Resolve issues such as port delays, unavailable containers, chassis problems, rejected empty returns, and missed appointments Coordinate with customers and internal operations teams regarding shipment status and exceptions Help minimize demurrage, detention, chassis, storage, and waiting-time charges Maintain accurate dispatch and shipment records Assist with sourcing and onboarding additional drivers and owner-operators as needed Qualifications Previous drayage or container dispatch experience strongly preferred Familiarity with Southern California ports and terminals, especially the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach Understanding of container terminology, LFD, demurrage, detention, chassis, empty returns, and port appointments Strong communication and problem-solving skills Able to manage multiple drivers and loads simultaneously Organized, dependable, and able to work independently Comfortable working with dispatch/TMS systems, email, spreadsheets, and online port/terminal systems Bilingual English/Chinese is a plus What We're Looking For We want someone who takes ownership of the dispatch operation, not someone who simply assigns loads. You should be able to anticipate problems, keep drivers moving, communicate with customers, and make decisions throughout the day to keep operations running efficiently.
