We handle refrigerated and LTL needs by leveraging no sailing schedules, our nationwide network of 32 strategically placed temperature-controlled facilities, our state-of-the-art tracking, and our specialized equipment and warehousing capabilities. In 2022, Roadtex was acquired by Echo Global Logistics. The acquisition brings a truckload brokerage and expanded transportation management solutions to Roadtex's customers while providing Echo with our national warehouse footprint and advanced temperature-controlled transportation solutions.
Position Overview:
The Dispatcher is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing daily transportation operations to ensure efficient and timely delivery of goods. This role involves route planning, real-time tracking of shipments, and effective communication with carriers, drivers, and schedulers. The Dispatcher must demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to make quick, informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities:
Plan and schedule daily and next-day routes to optimize delivery efficiency and meet customer commitments. Track and trace trips throughout the day, ensuring on-time performance and addressing any service delays. Communicate with 3rd-party carriers and internal teams to coordinate pickup and delivery schedules. Collaborate closely with schedulers to align route plans with customer requirements and capacity availability. Monitor driver progress and provide real-time updates to operations and customer service teams. Identify and resolve potential route conflicts, service issues, or delays proactively. Maintain accurate dispatch records and route data for reporting and analysis. Apply critical thinking to adjust plans as needed, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, or a related field preferred. 1-3 years of experience in dispatching, logistics coordination, or transportation planning or equivalent. Strong organizational and multitasking skills with excellent attention to detail. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and dispatch or transportation management systems (TMS). Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to make quick, sound decisions and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.Preferred Skills:
Experience working with 3rd-party carriers and logistics partners. Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation industry practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work flexible hours or on-call as operational needs require.
