Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Local/Regional Dispatcher to coordinate transportation operations within our supply chain network. This vital role involves managing the dispatching of freight and vehicles, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining seamless communication between drivers, customers, and internal teams. Duties Coordinate and dispatch freight vehicles across local and regional routes using vehicle dispatch software and transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management. Monitor GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and improve delivery efficiency. Communicate proactively with drivers via multi-line phone systems, ensuring clear instructions, updates, and support throughout their shifts. Manage phone call traffic efficiently, handling inquiries related to shipments, delivery schedules, and customer service issues with professionalism and courtesy. Maintain accurate data entry for dispatch logs, shipping & receiving records, and internal communication documentation. Ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safety standards during all dispatching activities. Collaborate closely with supply chain teams to coordinate freight movements, address logistical challenges, and improve overall transportation planning. Support fleet management by tracking vehicle maintenance schedules, managing freight loads, and ensuring adherence to scheduling deadlines. Experience Proven experience in road transportation operations or logistics dispatching within a supply chain environment. Familiarity with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms. Strong understanding of GPS technology, GIS mapping tools, and vehicle tracking systems. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for data entry and reporting purposes. Knowledge of DOT regulations related to freight transport and driver safety standards. Exceptional communication skills—both verbal and written—and phone etiquette for effective internal communication and customer service. Ability to analyze operational data to improve routing efficiency and resolve logistical issues promptly. Experience working with multi-line phone systems, logistics software like Vehicle Dispatch Software or Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and shipping & receiving procedures is highly desirable.
