Overview El Sol Neighborhood Educational Center is a nonprofit organization in the Inland Empire devoted to empowering our communities to lead healthy lives & access to health care; safe, affordable housing; opportunities for education; and the leadership skills to eliminate disparities. El Sol NEC's mission is for community members to reach personal empowerment to move towards self-sufficiency and contribute to their community's well-being. El Sol Neighborhood Educational Center is seeking a dedicated Community Health Worker II - Violence Prevention Professional (CHW-VPP) to serve as a trusted and credible messenger within communities impacted by violence and other social inequities. The CHW-VPP will work directly within the community to identify needs, connect individuals and families with appropriate services, promote protective factors, strengthen community leadership, and support efforts that reduce violence and improve community safety and well-being. The position will also co-facilitate peer-led community events, workshops, and dialogues designed Minimum requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent req; 2-3+ years of related/equivalent experience in a similar position with training/certifications; 80hrs. Bilingual (Spanish/ English; speak and write) preferred. Receive clearance from an FBI background check (Custodian of Records for DOJ).

Qualifications:

Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Community Health Worker, Promotor de Salud, youth mentor, community outreach worker, peer advocate, or similar role. Experience working with youth, young adults, families, and/or communities impacted by violence, poverty, trauma, or other social inequities preferred. Must be willing and able to work extensively in community settings and travel throughout assigned neighborhoods and service areas or community activities. Knowledge of community resources, social services, behavioral health resources, educational programs, employment services, housing resources, and other supportive services. Ability to mentor, encourage, and support youth leaders in developing leadership and community engagement skills. Experience facilitating or co-facilitating community meetings, peer-led activities, workshops, dialogues, or similar group activities preferred. Understanding of culturally responsive and trauma-informed approaches to communities. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic documentation systems. Proven ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and manage time effectively. Ability to perform duties requiring prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and other physical activities, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
