Job Description
Position Summary:
Hiring Salary Range:
$18.04 - $19.84 an hour. Position summary : The dispatcher serves as a tele-communicator 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 day a year, in the Central Dispatch Center, protecting Hillsborough Community College. Dispatchers are the primary point of contact for the Department of Public Safety; this includes receiving emergency and non-emergency phone calls for assistance. Communicates using emergency radios with patrol units and supervisors. Enters data into the records management system/computer aided dispatch (CAD), monitoring video surveillance cameras and access control devices. Coordinates campus notifications with College Leadership and representatives of various departments for response, mitigation, and recovery.
• Monitors the college-wide security camera system, analyzes video input, and determines the proper response to conditions or situations. Interacts with Tampa, Hillsborough County and Plant City 9-1-1 operators in processing emergency service requests. Logs the nature and source of all incoming and outgoing radio messages. Assists law enforcement officers and other officials in the recovery and analysis of archived records. Performs other similar and related duties as assigned. R equired
Qualifications:
The position requires either (1) vocational or technical school beyond High School/GED equivalent and at least one year of security guard or law enforcement experience, or (2) at least an associate's degree in Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement. In addition, requires a current: (1) Florida Class D security license, (2) CPR and first aid certification
•, and (3) Florida driver's license.
•CPR Certification must be obtained within first 30 days of employment if candidate is not certified at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degree, two years of experience and a Security Class-D license is preferred. Bilingual in Spanish & English is a plus, but not required.
