In person About Apollo Medical Transport Apollo Medical Transport provides Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) throughout Southwest Florida. We specialize in wheelchair, stretcher, and ambulatory transportation, helping patients safely and reliably access the care they need. We're looking for a dependable, organized, and motivated full-time Dispatcher to join our operations team. Our dispatchers are responsible for keeping the day moving. You'll coordinate drivers, vehicles, healthcare facilities, patients, and transportation requests while making real-time decisions throughout the day. This is a fast-paced position that requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to solve problems when plans change.
Responsibilities Scheduling & Dispatching:
Assign trips to drivers, coordinate routes, and manage the daily transportation schedule.
Driver Coordination:
Communicate with drivers throughout their shifts and provide updates, instructions, and schedule changes.
Trip Monitoring:
Monitor active trips and vehicle locations using GPS and dispatch software.
Customer Communication:
Communicate with hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, patients, and family members regarding transportation and ETAs.
Real-Time Problem Solving:
Respond to delays, cancellations, vehicle issues, schedule changes, and last-minute transportation requests.
Schedule Optimization:
Make adjustments throughout the day to keep vehicles productive while maintaining safe and timely service.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate trip information, notes, and operational records.
Customer Service:
Handle questions, concerns, and complaints professionally and respectfully.
Team Coordination:
Work closely with other dispatchers, drivers, and management to maintain smooth daily operations.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow company policies and applicable HIPAA, ADA, and transportation requirements. What We're Looking For Strong communication skills Excellent organization and attention to detail Good judgment and problem-solving ability Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Comfortable communicating by phone, text, and computer throughout the day Comfortable learning dispatch software, GPS systems, and other technology Ability to remain calm and professional when situations become stressful Dependable attendance and punctuality Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a team Professional attitude when dealing with patients, healthcare facilities, and coworkers Previous experience in dispatching, transportation, logistics, healthcare, scheduling, customer service, or a similar fast-paced environment is preferred , but we are willing to train the right candidate. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. What You Should Know About This Position NEMT dispatch isn't a job where you build a schedule in the morning and simply watch it happen. Schedules change throughout the day. Appointments run late. Hospitals add transportation requests. Drivers encounter traffic. Vehicles can have problems. Patients may need additional assistance. A good dispatcher can take in that information, determine what needs to happen next, communicate clearly, and keep the operation moving. We're looking for someone who can think ahead instead of simply reacting to the next problem. Most importantly, the people we transport depend on us. Many of our passengers are elderly, disabled, recovering from medical procedures, or otherwise dependent on reliable transportation to access their care. Every ride matters.
