Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:
Operates computers, calculators, adding machines, copiers, fax machines, and scanning devices, telephones and radios. Answers and directs non-emergency telephone calls, takes messages, keyboards and files documents, maintains agency records, and writes correspondence. Greets and directs guests and visitors. Assists in inventory control. Makes liaison and business calls on behalf of management staff of the agency. Prepares and edits management, inventory, patrol, investigative reports, and records. Maintains agency files and records. Sets archiving and destruction of records schedules according to agency policy and procedure. Maintains electronic suspense calendars for key management officials of the agency. Schedules and cancels appointments. Performs other lawful duties as assigned by Supervisor.
General Responsibilities:
Assists in providing community-based law enforcement services to those within the jurisdictional limits of the agency through timely and accurate clerical and communication support. Arrives to work at a specified time in appropriate non-uniform or soft-uniform attire and is neat and well-groomed. Meets and greets individuals of the community in person, over the telephone, and other computer-based devices. Answers inquiries from the public, resolves issues, and directs persons with issues and questions to the proper resource. Assists in audits and inventory control. Maintains sensitivity and provides equal services without regard to race, religion, gender, or cultural group. Establishes and maintains positive, effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, other agencies and the public. Attend and complete all required training and demonstrations of proficiency. Establishes and maintains liaison with local, county, state and federal agencies, as well as public officials. Supports the goals and objectives of the agency. Supports and encourages a positive work environment. Abides by all lawful policies and procedures, orders and instructions by superiors of the Ottawa County Sheriff. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
