Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Communications Supervisor, the Dispatcher is responsible for receiving and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls to both emergency and non-emergency ALS and BLS ambulances utilizing the Dispatch (CAD) system.
MUST HAVE
Basic understanding of the various State EMS certification levels, BLS, ALS, SCT. Basic understanding of the state EMS protocols. Multi-tasking high work load management skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilizes sophisticated system status management computer system which monitors, updates, and controls the location and movement of units. Receives incoming emergency and non-emergency calls and promptly ascertains proper levels of response, allocates resources to match dynamic system demands and input applicable information into the CAD system. Dispatches and maintains radio communications with, MAV, BLS, and ALS units. Demonstrate the ability to stay calm is a stressful environment. Be able to work overnight, day shifts, and or weekends, mandatory overtime shifts and holidays when necessary, to accommodate the needs of a 24/7 dispatch center. Monitors and documents response times of units. Utilizes and maintains professional communications skills with all employees and customers including patients, facilities, and public service agencies. Assists in the collection of data for record keeping purposes. Responsible for Adhering to all company policies and procedures. Other similar duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required Experience with Traumasoft CAD system Must have at least 5-10 years experience in Ambulance dispatch Current certificate holder of CPR for Healthcare Providers Current Maryland State EMT Certification Knowledge of the Baltimore City and Baltimore County's hospital systems. Must have effective oral and written communications skills, and effective interpersonal skills.
Color Vision:
Must have the ability to distinguish and identify different colors. Experience and certification as an EMT or Paramedic with an ambulance transport system or equivalent. Valid unrestricted drivers license.

$28.00 - $31.00 per hour
