Job Description

The telecommunicator's primary responsibility is to receive emergency and non-emergency calls, to determine the need and to send police, fire or emergency medical services. They assist units in the field by securing and/or verifying information through computers, department files and records and other sources of available data. Under the general supervision of the 9-1-1 Director. Central Dispatch is a 24 hour a day, 365 days a year operation and employees may be required to work any shift, including weekends or holidays and will be required to work some overtime as needed. Position(s) open until filled. 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM (Eastern Time); 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM; 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM; Rotating Schedule. Part-time employees shall work no more than 29 hours per week on average. Employees shall not work more than 18 hours in any 24-hour rolling period. A minimum of 6 consecutive hours off duty is required after reaching the daily cap.
