SMART Bus Dispatcher
Job Description
The Charter Township of Shelby is accepting applications for a Part-Time Senior Bus Dispatcher in the Senior Citizens Transportation Program. Candidate must be available to work approximately 25-30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The current hourly wage for this position is $17.82 per hour. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Answer telephones and assist residents with transportation inquiries. Schedule and coordinate transportation appointments. Dispatch and communicate daily schedules to bus drivers. Coordinate driver assignments and daily route changes. Review daily transportation schedules and make necessary adjustments to ensure efficient service. Maintain and update transportation calendars and rider schedules. Create and maintain transportation reports and Excel spreadsheets. Complete and submit required SMART reports and related documentation. Process bus ticket sales and member transactions at the front desk. Maintain accurate rider records, including emergency contact information. Communicate vehicle maintenance needs and transmit bus reports to PRM Maintenance. Assist in resolving scheduling conflicts and service issues while providing excellent customer service. Maintain confidential records and perform other related administrative duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word. Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and work effectively in a fast-paced office environment. Ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential information. Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and problem-solving skills. Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screening Ability to work with senior citizens in a courteous and professional manner. Knowledge of local streets, roadways, and service areas, is not required, but preferred. Previous dispatching, scheduling, transportation coordination, is not required, but preferred.
