Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Dispatcher to join our team. This will be for an overnight position. In this critical role, you will be the first point of contact for emergency calls, responsible for assessing situations, dispatching appropriate services, and ensuring effective communication between responders and individuals in need. Your ability to remain calm under pressure and utilize various communication technologies will be essential in providing timely assistance. Responsibilities Receive and prioritize emergency calls from the public and assess the nature of the situation. Utilize phone systems to communicate effectively with callers and dispatch appropriate emergency services. Analyze information quickly to determine the best course of action for each incident. Answer 911 calls and gather critical information or provide instructions. Collaborate with law enforcement, fire departments, and medical personnel to coordinate responses. Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to assist in locating incidents and directing responders. Maintain a calm demeanor while managing multiple calls simultaneously during high-pressure situations. Experience Previous experience in a dispatch or emergency response role is preferred but not required. Strong analytical skills to assess situations quickly and make informed decisions. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for this role.
