Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Dump Truck Dispatch Manager to manage all company and sub-hauler truck movements supporting our grading and excavating operations. The position is responsible for daily haul scheduling, real-time fleet management, coordination with the maintenance shop, and direct customer account management. The role also carries responsibility for developing new hauling business to fill available capacity. This is an office-based position that requires regular visits to active job sites to verify production, driver compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Primary Responsibilities:
Dispatch and Fleet Operations Build and issue the daily haul schedule; assign trucks and drivers based on material type, load requirements, site access, cycle times, and driver qualifications Monitor fleet movement throughout the day and reassign equipment to address breakdowns, weather stoppages, callouts, and added scope Engage sub-haulers when internal capacity is exceeded; confirm rates and load counts prior to dispatch Coordinate equipment breakdowns with the maintenance shop through return to service, reassigning loads to cover down units Maintain compliance with weight limits, permitted routes, and overweight/oversize permit requirements Customer Management and Business Development Serve as the primary point of contact for hauling customers; confirm truck counts and requirements, resolve delay or equipment issues, and ensure quality hauling work product Identify and pursue new hauling opportunities to fill open capacity through outbound calls, site visits, and monitoring of project activity in the region Administration Maintain accurate daily dispatch records, load counts, and driver assignments Verify load tickets for accuracy and deliver timely documentation to the office for billing; reconcile against dispatch records Conduct site visits to verify driver compliance, production progress, and customer satisfaction Required Qualifications One to three (1-2) years of dispatch experience in construction, aggregate, or site development hauling is
STRONGLY
preferred. Working knowledge of tri-axle and quad-axle capacities, material types, haul cycle calculations, weight limits, and North Carolina permitted routes Demonstrated willingness to perform outbound business development activity; approximately 25% of this role involves securing new work Proven ability to communicate effectively with both drivers and customers under time pressure Proficiency with email, spreadsheets, and dispatch or scheduling software Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable for operation of a company vehicle
