In this vital role, you will coordinate the scheduling and routing of transportation vehicles, ensuring the efficient movement of freight and goods across various locations. Your proactive communication skills and attention to detail will help optimize supply chain operations, maintain compliance with transportation regulations, and deliver exceptional customer service. We are a rapidly growing company with lots of earning potential. Responsibilities Manage and coordinate vehicle dispatching using transportation management systems and vehicle dispatch software to ensure timely deliveries. Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, customers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and internal communication channels. Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and resolve logistical issues promptly. Enter accurate data into logistics databases, including shipping & receiving records, freight details, and DOT compliance documentation. Oversee scheduling for freight pickups and deliveries while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safety standards. Handle phone call management with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette while providing real-time updates and support. Collaborate with supply chain teams to coordinate shipping schedules, freight movements, and 3PL (third-party logistics) operations for maximum efficiency. Maintain organized records of dispatch activities, vehicle maintenance schedules, and internal communication logs to support analysis skills and reporting needs. Experience Proven experience in dispatching within road transportation operations or logistics environments. Intermodal experience is preferred. Willing to train the right person but must have strong dispatch skills if no intermodal experience. Familiarity with TMS Systems Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively across multiple lines of communication. Knowledge of GPS technology, GIS mapping tools, and fleet management software is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—with a focus on clarity, professionalism, and customer service excellence. Ability to perform data entry accurately while managing high-volume phone calls in a fast-paced setting. Understanding of shipping & receiving procedures, freight handling, and DOT regulations related to vehicle dispatching.
