Job Description

The Defiance County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for the following
Position:
Full-Time Communications Officer:
Communication Officers are responsible for answering all emergency and non-emergency calls, and dispatching for 3 Law Enforcement Agencies as well as 11 Fire Departments within Defiance County. The applicant selected for the position must be able to work all shifts, holidays and weekends as well as completing trainings as required. Starting salary for this position is $41,600 per year, but lateral transfers will be considered. The minimum qualifications for this position include:
  • Able to type 40 words per minute
  • Possess a valid State of Ohio driver's license
  • No convictions involving moral turpitude, charges of violence, or any felonies. Must be able to pass a background investigation, and drug screening. The acceptable candidate will have the ability to:
  • Maintain effective working relationships with other County employees, representatives or other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.
  • Adhere to department professional and ethical standards of conduct
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Operate department radios, telephones, computers, and standard office equipment
  • Multi-task and prioritize effectively in a high stress environment To apply for this position applicants will need to submit the following:
