Job Description

NIGHT DISPATCHER BASE
Distributing BASE Distributing is seeking a dependable, organized, and operations-focused Night Dispatcher to join our team. This position plays a critical role in keeping our fuel transportation and final-mile operations running safely and efficiently during overnight hours. The ideal candidate is someone who can think ahead, communicate clearly, stay organized under pressure, and make sound decisions when plans change. Transportation, trucking, fuel, oilfield, or logistics experience is preferred.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Night Dispatcher will be responsible for coordinating drivers, equipment, customer requests, and operational changes throughout the night.
Key responsibilities include:
Monitor and manage nightly and early-morning dispatch operations. Confirm driver assignments, trucks, trailers, and delivery information. Communicate dispatch instructions and changes clearly to drivers. Monitor incoming customer and rig delivery requests. Coordinate final-mile and supply transportation needs. Track driver availability and Hours of Service (HOS) considerations. Monitor equipment availability and communicate truck/trailer issues. Review and communicate DVIR or maintenance concerns that could affect dispatch. Escalate safety or equipment concerns when necessary. Coordinate with drivers, terminal personnel, mechanics, and management. Update dispatch sheets, planners, operational reports, and other required documentation. Document delays, breakdowns, call-outs, schedule changes, and other significant events. Assist with arranging alternate equipment or drivers when operational issues arise. Maintain accurate communication and provide a clear handoff to the day operations team. Follow BASE Distributing safety policies and operating procedures at all times.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone who: Is dependable and comfortable working overnight hours. Has strong communication and problem-solving skills. Can manage multiple drivers, deliveries, and priorities simultaneously. Remains calm and professional when schedules change or problems arise. Is comfortable making time-sensitive operational decisions. Pays close attention to detail and documentation. Understands the importance of driver and equipment safety. Is comfortable working independently while knowing when an issue needs to be escalated. Has basic computer skills and can learn dispatch and transportation software. Works well with drivers, customers, vendors, mechanics, and management.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Trucking or transportation dispatch experience Fuel transportation or petroleum logistics experience Oilfield logistics experience CDL/driver operations knowledge DOT/FMCSA and Hours of Service familiarity Experience with ELD or fleet-management systems Experience coordinating equipment and maintenance issues Experience with Motive or similar fleet/ELD software is a plus.
