We are a family-owned business operating 31 Ultimart convenience stores and supplying fuel to retailers and commercial customers throughout Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Our growing transportation operation includes approximately 22 tractor/tanker units and 6 tankwagon trucks. About the Position As a Transportation Dispatcher , you will play a critical role in keeping our fuel delivery operation running safely and efficiently. Dispatchers coordinate and assign drivers to fuel deliveries for convenience stores, commercial accounts, farms, and other customers. This position requires someone who can think on their feet, communicate effectively, and make timely decisions while balancing customer needs, driver availability, equipment, safety, and delivery requirements. Our dispatch team plays a vital role in customer service and is responsible for optimizing the use of people and equipment to maximize efficiency . No previous transportation or petroleum industry experience is required. We are willing to train the right candidate who is motivated, dependable, and looking for a new challenge. Duties & Responsibilities Develop positive working relationships with customers and drivers and use those relationships to gain cooperation and achieve successful outcomes. Monitor customer inventory management systems and receive fuel orders from retail, commercial, and contract customers. Analyze daily fuel delivery requirements and use dispatch optimization technology to develop efficient daily delivery schedules. Prepare and assign driver work schedules while maximizing equipment utilization. Clearly communicate schedules, changes, and other pertinent information to drivers. Make quick, confident decisions using sound judgment, basic calculations, and deductive reasoning. Follow and enforce all company safety and security procedures. Monitor changing circumstances throughout the day and make adjustments as needed. Complete additional projects and perform other job duties as assigned. Skills & Abilities The ideal candidate will have: Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with customers and coworkers in a friendly and professional manner. Intermediate-level technology skills, including the ability to learn and use dispatch software, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Windows, and iOS operating systems. Comfort using smartphones, tablets, and transportation-related applications. Education & Experience Associate degree or some post-secondary education in Communications, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field , or equivalent experience. Minimum of one year of direct customer-contact experience in any setting. Geographical knowledge of Wisconsin is preferred. Basic understanding of DOT regulations is preferred. Previous transportation or petroleum industry experience is helpful, but not required . We will train the right candidate. Schedule This position follows a non-traditional 4 days on / 4 days off schedule . The dispatch team shares responsibility for maintaining 24-hour, 7-day-a-week operations , including rotating after-hours emergency phone coverage. During the initial training period, schedule flexibility is required . Training will provide hands-on experience while working alongside our seasoned dispatch team and learning the systems, procedures, and responsibilities of the position. Why Join Condon Companies?
