State of Colorado licensed Paramedic Current Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, Pediatric Life Support, and International Trauma Life SupportFive years management experience preferred.
Must have computer experience and with proficiencies in Microsoft Office products.
Must be able effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and the general public as well as analyze data and information and develop actions plans as needed.
Display understanding of regulatory requirements to ensure department meets Conditions of Participation and/or regulatory requirements necessary to maintain patient safety.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the delivery of care according to the State of Colorado Board of Medical Examiners and accepted pre-hospital and hospital standards of care. Assumes 24-hour responsibility for the department through delegation to staff members and availability by phone or pager when on call for the organization.
Demonstrates sensitivity to ethical and legal issues of nursing practice by cooperating with the medical staff and other hospital departments. Serves as clinical resource and expert in emergency medical services and emergency preparedness. Participates in Environment of Care (EOC), security and organization-wide Emergency Preparedness. Responsible for planning, developing, and implementing the budgetary process.
Remains current in all activities related to Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Initiatives and relays information as appropriate.
Involved in all disaster planning and management to include implementing quarterly drills for the hospital and representing SLVH with disaster management.
Attends community emergency preparedness activities. Maximizes EMS staff to ensure they are assisting other clinical department areas as needed.
Works closely with the Director of Emergency Department to ensure patients are delivered and care for in a safe manner in the RMC Emergency Department.
