POSITION SUMMARY
The Equipment & Facilities Technician will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and calibration of various types of equipment including but not limited to BSC (Biological Safety Cabinets), -80°C Freezers, Balances, Incubators and Centrifuges. This role involves documenting repairs, facilitating equipment calibration, performing troubleshooting repairs and maintenance on equipment, and utilizing both power and heavy tools. The ideal candidate should be knowledgeable about these systems or be willing to learn, and possess a solid understanding of power tools with a readiness to acquire skills in PM, Calibration and Documentation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Repair and Maintenance:
Perform or facilitate repairs and maintenance on BSCs, -80°C Freezers, CNC machines, and other equipment as required. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and any issues efficiently.
Documentation:
Accurately record all repair activities and maintenance performed. Maintain detailed logs for compliance and future reference.
Calibration:
Facilitate the calibration of equipment to ensure accuracy and ensure equipment is up to date. Verify calibration procedures and maintain calibration records. And in some instances perform calibration.
Tool Proficiency:
Utilize power tools such as grinders, drill presses, and impact drills effectively. Learn to operate and use heavy tools like plasma cutters and welding equipment as needed.
Learning and Development:
Demonstrate a willingness to learn preventive maintenance (PM) procedures and other relevant skills to maintain the Equipment working properly.
Equipment Knowledge:
Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the specific components and operation of all the equipment.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with safety regulations and company policies. Adhere to proper safety protocols when using tools and equipment.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proficiency with power tools (e.g., grinders, drill presses, impact drills).
- Ability to learn and operate heavy tools (e.g., plasma cutters, welding equipment).
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with equipment calibration and documentation practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, Initiative and the ability to work collaboratively with team members.
- Proficient with Google platforms
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
