What You'll Do Spend the majority of your day on the floor, conducting continuous rounding across all units and shifts Provide hands-on, at-the-bedside training and mentorship for CNAs, including competency validation, skills check-offs, and real-time coaching Lead and coordinate new hire orientation and onboarding for CNAs and nursing staff Plan and deliver in-services and ongoing education. Identify skill gaps and coach staff through observation and follow-up, not just classroom sessions Support quality initiatives, including falls, pressure injury prevention, restorative care, and person-centered care Maintain accurate training records, competencies, and in-service documentation for regulatory compliance Help keep the facility survey-ready by aligning education with CMS regulations and state requirements Partner closely with your Co-DSD, DON, and department leaders to share responsibilities and cover all shifts Foster a positive, supportive culture that boosts staff retention and morale

Active LVN license in California in good standing Minimum 3 years of nursing experience in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting Demonstrated experience training, educating, and mentoring CNAs Comfortable in a highly hands-on role, on the floor daily, not behind a desk Working knowledge of CMS regulations, F-tags, and state survey requirements Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills Ability to work with a co-DSD and adapt to the needs of a 24/7 operation
Preferred:
Prior experience as a DSD, Staff Development Coordinator, or clinical educator in a SNF Experience as a CNA Experience with electronic health records and learning management systems Who You Are You're a seasoned long-term care nurse who loves teaching and thrives on the floor. You're approachable, patient, and firm when it counts. You'd rather walk a CNA through a transfer at the bedside than hand them a handout. You take pride in seeing your staff grow.
