Facilities Coordinator
Job Description
Facilities Coordinator The Facilities Coordinator is responsible to maintain an environment and equipment that is conducive to good learning and supports classroom needs. Daily Responsibilities and Duties Respond to equipment and/or building maintenance needs, requests, and emergencies reported by faculty and staff, either by performing the work personally or contacting and scheduling a contractor when needed. Performs routine site walk-throughs to assess safety issues, perform routine maintenance, and update the Facilities Plan. Works in coordination with the Chief Operating Officer in having purchases, repairs, and supplies approved in advance. Perform daily cleaning duties including but not limited to lunchroom, classrooms, emptying trash, window cleaning, and locker room restrooms. Works in partnership with the outsourced Janitorial Service utilizing the daily communication log to relay needs, complaints, and general messages. Flex work schedule around school holiday as needed throughout the year, and enlists the help of parent volunteers for specialty tasks. Know the procedures for dealing with emergency situations in the classroom and school. Participate in required emergency safety drills in coordination with school leadership. Work through ongoing Maintenance Request List, documenting progress and completions. Be on standby for physical plant emergencies on Gadsden and Main Campus. Perform daily cleaning duties including but not limited to lunchroom, classrooms, emptying trash, window cleaning, and locker room restrooms. Respond to janitorial cleanups throughout the school day following health department regulations and procedures. Take deliveries (boxes, items, materials) from the Front Office to the appropriate location. Minor maintenance issues at Gadsden campus. Inspect and replace Light Bulbs / HVAC Air Filters / Ceiling tiles / Exit Sign Bulbs / Outdoor Spotlight Bulbs, etc. Perform regular cleaning and maintenance for Air Conditioning Units/ Gutters & drains / Ice Machine, etc. Prepare facilities for extreme weather conditions, eg. Flooding, Windstorms, Freezing Weather, etc. Support school leadership in meeting regulatory requirements. (Safety and Health Preventative Checklist). Perform monthly Playground Safety Checklist. Other duties as assigned. Skills and Qualifications Hands on experience in school maintenance activities Strong ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with colleagues and vendors Strong ability to organize efficiently and work independently with minimum supervision Minimum 1-2 years maintenance experience Strong detail and deadline orientation Background Check required
