The Facilities Assistant plays an important role in keeping the venue clean, safe, functional, and welcoming for our guests and staff. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, takes pride in maintaining a high-quality environment, and can stay organized in a fast-paced nightlife setting. About the Facility Sidetrack is an iconic multi-level LGBTQIA+ video bar and community hub located in Chicago's North Halsted neighborhood. Responsibilities Perform routine inspections of the facility and identify maintenance, safety, or cleanliness concerns. Assist with general building maintenance and minor repairs. Respond to facility-related requests from management and staff. Help maintain public areas, hallways, storage areas, and employee spaces. Assist with equipment, deliveries, event setups, and room or space changes. Monitor facility supplies and notify management when inventory needs replenishment. Coordinate with outside contractors and service providers as directed. Assist with preventive maintenance of building systems, fixtures, furniture, and equipment. Report plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, or other building issues promptly. Help maintain safe and unobstructed entrances, exits, walkways, and work areas. Assist with opening and closing facility-related tasks. Help keep storage areas organized and ensure supplies and equipment are properly stored. Support emergency preparedness and workplace safety procedures. Maintain basic maintenance logs, inspection records, and work-order documentation. Work collaboratively with bar staff, security, management, cleaning staff, and other departments. Perform additional facilities and operational duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous experience in facilities, building maintenance, hospitality, restaurants, bars, hotels, or a related environment preferred. Basic knowledge of general building maintenance and minor repairs. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety. Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently. Comfortable working in a busy entertainment/nightlife environment. Good communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and respond appropriately to urgent facility needs. Intermediate level computer and technology skills. Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other nontraditional hours as needed. Physical Requirements The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and moving supplies or equipment. The ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and safely perform physical maintenance tasks is preferred.
