Position Overview VALiNTRY is seeking a Third Shift Production Supervisor to lead and coordinate overnight production activities within a chemical manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for maintaining safe, efficient, and compliant operations while meeting production schedules, quality standards, and plant performance goals. The supervisor will lead production operators, promote a strong safety culture, and serve as the primary point of contact for production issues during the overnight shift. Key Responsibilities Production Management Supervise and coordinate all third shift production operations. Ensure production schedules are completed safely, efficiently, and on time. Monitor chemical batch processing, material usage, equipment performance, and production output. Adjust staffing and resources to maximize productivity and minimize downtime. Investigate and resolve production issues, process deviations, and equipment problems. Ensure production records, batch sheets, and operational documentation are completed accurately. Safety and Environmental Compliance Promote and enforce all plant safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Conduct routine safety observations and inspections throughout the shift. Ensure employees properly use required personal protective equipment. Enforce Lockout/Tagout procedures and other process safety requirements. Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns and initiate appropriate corrective actions. Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, environmental, and internal company requirements. Quality Assurance Ensure finished products meet established quality specifications. Verify that operators follow approved standard operating procedures, batch instructions, and work instructions. Coordinate with Quality Control and laboratory personnel regarding product testing and approvals. Respond promptly to quality issues and implement corrective actions. Team Leadership Supervise, coach, and develop production operators and shift leads. Conduct shift meetings to communicate production goals, safety topics, staffing needs, and operational updates. Provide training and cross training opportunities to strengthen workforce capabilities. Hold employees accountable for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and performance standards. Participate in employee evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions when necessary. Equipment and Maintenance Coordination Monitor equipment condition and identify maintenance requirements. Coordinate with maintenance personnel to prioritize repairs and minimize production downtime. Ensure operators complete routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance tasks. Verify that equipment is properly cleaned, inspected, and prepared for production runs. Communication and Reporting Prepare detailed end of shift reports covering production output, downtime, equipment issues, safety incidents, quality concerns, and staffing updates. Communicate with day shift supervisors, maintenance, quality, and management teams to ensure smooth shift transitions. Escalate urgent safety, quality, staffing, or production concerns to plant leadership. Participate in production and operations meetings as required. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Three to five years of manufacturing experience within a chemical, industrial, or process manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of chemical batch manufacturing processes. Experience with production scheduling, process control systems, and manufacturing performance metrics. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and process safety requirements. Ability to make sound operational decisions under pressure. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and production reporting systems. Strong communication, organization, and problem solving skills. Ability to analyze production data and identify improvement opportunities. Preferred Qualifications At least two years of supervisory or manufacturing leadership experience. Experience leading production employees during an overnight shift. Experience coordinating with maintenance, quality, laboratory, and safety teams. Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and move throughout a manufacturing facility for extended periods. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in an industrial environment with varying temperatures and noise levels. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, a half face respirator, hearing protection, and steel toe boots. Work Schedule Full time, third shift. Must be available for emergency call ins, plant shutdowns, and occasional weekend coverage as required.
