Job Description

Job Overview Newton Presbyterian Church (NPC) is seeking a facilities person working 20 hours a week, maintaining the building, grounds, and handling basic repairs on a 32,000 sq ft facility. Serving spaces used by the congregation and tenants. Key focus areas include building maintenance, projects, tenant satisfaction, and safety checks.
Job Summary Hours:
20 hours per week (part-time, flexible schedule may include weekends or evenings). events. Responsibilities Maintenance & Repairs Oversee building systems including maintaining infrastructure, exterior fabric, and interior spaces. Interact with all city and state officials to maintain all codes and guidelines. Schedule and attend all fire and safety inspections. Fix minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry issues. Change lightbulbs and do basic repairs. Hire and meet outside contractors for major repairs. Facility Safety & Cleanliness Assure that grounds are maintained in all seasons by appropriate vendor Lock and unlock doors and check security systems or alarms. Dispose of trash and stock cleaning supplies. Manage cleaning company and assure all cleanliness requirements are maintained. Act as primary contact for building users regarding facilities needs and maintenance. Assure all preventative maintenance contracts are maintained and adjusted as needed. Conduct maintenance and safety checks internally and externally of the facility and address any issues found. Primary contact for all emergencies related to fire, security, base building systems, heat, plumbing, snow removal, etc…. Requirements Minimum of 3-5 years facilities management Basic knowledge of handy work, tools, and general building upkeep. Able to lift heavy items (up to 50 pounds), climb ladders, and stand for long periods. Able to work independently and show up on time for scheduled shifts Ability to communicate orally and in writing effectively Able to maintain working relationships with staff/members volunteers, building users, vendors and contractors. Desired Additional Skills Ability to prepare and administer facilities budget process Ability to monitor facilities related expenses vs budget and present monthly summaries highlighting variances for operating and capital expenditures
Education Minimum:
High School Diploma, Fluency in
English Preferred:
Further education or CPM certification.
Fluency in Spanish Expected hours:
