Job Description

Director of Athletic Events & Facilities The Director of Athletic Events & Facility Operations is responsible for the comprehensive leadership, coordination, and oversight of athletic event management and facility operations for the University of Mary Athletics Department. Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Athletics under the direction of the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, the Director ensures that all athletic venues operate safely, efficiently, and in alignment with the University's Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission and commitment to operational excellence. The Director provides strategic leadership for home event administration, facility scheduling, venue operations, external rentals, event logistics, staffing, and operational planning across all athletic facilities, including newly constructed venues. The position serves as the primary administrator for identified home athletics contests and external facility users while collaborating with campus partners to provide exceptional service and hospitality to scholar-athletes, coaches, officials, spectators, visiting teams, and the community. The Director supervises graduate assistants, student employees, part-time staff, and event personnel while supporting long-range operational planning, facility stewardship, budget administration, and continuous improvement initiatives. A key responsibility is the enthusiastic implementation of and personal investment in the University's "Greatness Through Virtue" whole-person development model. Candidates will be invited to demonstrate a willingness to support the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary.

Athletic event management & game day administration Facility scheduling, operations & external rentals Personnel leadership & event staffing Facility operations & maintenance coordination Administrative leadership & department operations
Desired Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience Include:
Bachelor's degree in Sport Management, Athletic Administration, Facility Management, Business Administrations, Recreation, Event Management or related field is required Master's degree in Sport Administration, Higher Education, Business Administration or a related field with three or more years of experience is preferred Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae , the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities. Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the Office of Intercollegiate Athletics and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict's admonition that all be received as Christ.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Demonstrated knowledge of athletic event management and facility operations Working knowledge of NCAA rules, standards, practices, and procedures Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills Ability to coordinate multiple events and competing priorities simultaneously Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to supervise, develop, and motivate staff and student employees. Knowledge of event safety, emergency preparedness, and risk management principles. Budget management and purchasing experience preferred. Experience with facility scheduling systems and event management software preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other technology used in athletic administration. Understanding of the Greatness Through Virtue model and the ability to foster scholar-athlete development through virtue-based leadership.
