Facilities Team Member & Front Desk Associate Part-Time Position, Available Immediately, Mostly Weekends The Kew-Forest School, a PS-12 co-educational day school in Forest Hills, NY, proudly serving a diverse student body that represents the multicultural landscape of Queens and New York City. We are seeking a reliable and service-oriented Part-Time Facilities & Front Desk Associate capable of balancing light facilities maintenance with front desk reception duties. This role ensures the school remains safe, clean, and welcoming to students, families, and visitors during afternoon/evening and weekend hours . Primary Responsibilities Facilities Maintenance Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing common areas. Empty trash and recycling bins and restock restroom supplies as needed. On Sundays, collect all trash from the outdoor storage area and transport it to the curbside pickup location. Conduct regular facility checks to identify and report maintenance or safety concerns. Assist with basic repairs, such as changing light bulbs and minor plumbing issues. Set up and break down spaces for events, meetings, and weekend programs. Ensure school entryways and common areas remain clean, organized, and presentable. Monitor building conditions and promptly report any maintenance needs. Secondary Responsibilities Front Desk Reception Greet and assist visitors, students, and staff in a professional and welcoming manner. Answer phone calls, take messages, and direct inquiries to the appropriate voicemail or personnel. Monitor building entry, verify IDs, and ensure only authorized individuals access the building. Provide accurate information about school events, policies, and procedures. Receive and manage deliveries, sign for packages, and notify recipients. Maintain visitor logs and report any security concerns to the appropriate personnel. Go above and beyond job responsibilities when necessary to support the school community; Treat all community members, vendors, and guests with the highest level of respect, courtesy, and professionalism. Deliver high-quality service, interacting with all individuals in a friendly, polite, and helpful manner; Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities & Safety, Director of Finance & HR, or Head of School. Desired Experience and Qualifications Facilities or custodial experience preferred; with the ability to perform basic maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, cleaning, and organizing spaces. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks, including bending, carrying, and setting up for events. Experience with trash removal and waste disposal procedures preferred. Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and report maintenance issues promptly. Basic customer service or reception experience preferred, including answering phones and assisting visitors. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to multitask, managing front desk responsibilities while handling occasional maintenance tasks. Must be punctual, reliable, and service-oriented.
Compensation:
