Summary The Facilities Assistant reports directly to the Facilities Manager and supports the day-to-day operations of the facility. This role works closely with various departments to perform preventative maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting of all facility equipment. Primary Responsibilities Perform skilled maintenance in the following areas: carpentry, roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC; pneumatic and digital controls. Assist with the installation, inspection, repair, troubleshooting and daily maintenance of buildings, infrastructures, and facility equipment. Monitor facility systems for potential problems (or existing problems) and formulates solutions utilizing blueprints, schematics, or parts catalogs as necessary. Perform effective emergency maintenance as required, on call and after hours may be required. Carries out preventive maintenance to ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed rated life. Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment. Assist the facilities team/manager with any needed tasks. Knowledge and Skills Ability to use hand tools and power tools. Basic knowledge in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Basic knowledge of building automation systems and HVAC equipment including troubleshooting. Basic knowledge of Fire Life Safety equipment. Requirements Minimum of high school diploma or general equivalency degree required. 3-4 years of related field experience within a production facility, building operations and maintenance in a commercial setting preferred. Basic mechanical aptitude and maintenance skills. Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding. Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time. Must be comfortable working at heights, including on rooftops and elevated work areas.
Pay:
$25.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
